Keep your hands cozy with a pair of handmade mittens! Using The World’s Simplest Mittens by Tin Can Knits, this two-session class will walk you through the construction of a classic mitten from cuff to fingertips.
We'll use chunky yarn so your mittens knit up quickly while you learn the skills you'll need to make mittens again and again. You'll work in the round, shape the hand, create the thumb opening, work decreases, and finish the thumb.
Choose DPNs or magic loop—whichever method you prefer!
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner. Students should already know how to knit, purl, and be comfortable with the basics of knitting in the round.
Class Includes:
- 4 hours of instruction over two 2-hour sessions
- The World's Simplest Mittens pattern
Yarn: You'll need approximately 120–190 yards of chunky-weight yarn, depending on your mitten size. We recommend Fairy Floss, Rambouillet Air, Malabrigo Vientos, or Berroco Vintage Chunky.
You'll Also Need:
- US 6 and US 8 DPNs, or long circular needles for magic loop
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle and scissors
Student Discount: Yarn and class materials should be purchased at Tink & The Frog, and students receive 10% off class materials.
By the end of class, you'll have a cozy pair of mittens well underway—and the skills to make more for yourself, gifts, or anyone else who needs warmer hands this winter!
