Get ready for fall with the adorable Acorn Hat! This cozy colorwork project is a fun way to learn or practice Fair Isle knitting while creating a hat covered in charming little acorns.
This class is perfect for knitters who are comfortable knitting in the round and are ready to add stranded colorwork to their skills. We’ll work through the Acorn Hat together, focusing on reading the colorwork chart, managing two colors of yarn, keeping your floats and tension comfortable, and creating beautiful, even colorwork.
What to Expect:
Skill Level: Intermediate. Students should already be comfortable knitting in the round on circular needles.
Techniques Covered: Stranded/Fair Isle knitting, reading a colorwork chart, managing two colors, tension and floats, and finishing techniques.
Materials: Worsted weight yarn purchased at Tink & The Frog (we recommend Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok), US 6 and US 7 16" circular needles, US 7 DPNs, stitch markers, scissors, and tapestry needle. Pattern included!
Homework: Please choose your yarn and have the brim completed (or mostly completed) before the first class so we can jump right into the acorn colorwork together!
Student Discount: Students receive 10% off class materials purchased at Tink & The Frog. Stop in before class so we can help you choose a beautiful color combination.
By the end of class, you'll have practiced the skills you need to confidently tackle stranded colorwork—and be well on your way to a cozy Acorn Hat that's perfect for fall.
