Ready to level up your hat game?
The February Hat is a beautifully textured design featuring a deep folded brim, subtle stripes, charted stitch patterns, and a classic pom pom finish. It’s polished, wearable, and incredibly satisfying to knit.
This two-session workshop is perfect for knitters who have already made at least one hat and are ready to build new skills — especially working from charts.
Class meets twice for 2 hours.
In this class, you’ll learn:
• How to work from a stitch chart
• How to read charted crown decreases
• Provisional cast-on (optional)
• How to create a clean folded brim
• How texture patterns come alive with simple knits and purls
This pattern uses only knit and purl stitches — but the result looks far more advanced.
Materials Needed
• Approx. 200–220 yards worsted weight yarn (solid or semi-solid recommended for texture visibility)
• US 4 (3.5 mm) 16” circular
• US 6 (4 mm) 16” circular
• US 6 DPNs
• Stitch marker, tapestry needle
• Waste yarn (for provisional cast on)
Students receive 10% off class materials.
About the Provisional Cast-On
This hat begins with a provisional cast on to create the folded brim.
If you’ve never done one before, we recommend stopping by our Drop-In Knit & Crochet Clinic (1pm) for help getting started.
Prefer to skip it? You’re welcome to knit a traditional brim instead.
Why take this class?
Because reading charts opens up an entire world of patterns.
You’ll leave with:
- Confidence working from charts
- Stronger shaping skills
- A polished, wearable hat
- A deeper understanding of texture
If you’ve been wanting to move beyond basic hats, this is your next step.
