Ready to add cables to your knitting skills?
The Midvale Hat is a cozy, classic beanie featuring bold cables and simple garter stitch panels—and chunky yarn means you'll see progress fast!
In this class, we'll work through the cable pattern, learn how to read the instructions, and tackle the techniques you'll need to finish your hat. The Midvale is a great next step for knitters who are comfortable knitting in the round and want to try cables.
Not ready for cables yet?
You can still join us! If this is your first hat or you'd rather build your confidence before tackling cables, we'll help you knit a simple chunky beanie instead. You'll learn the basics of knitting a hat in the round and shaping the crown.
Skill Level: You should already know how to knit and purl.
Yarn: Choose from our selection of chunky yarns, including Malabrigo Vientos, Berroco Vintage Chunky, Rambouillet Air, or Fairy Floss. For the Midvale Hat, we especially recommend Vientos or Vintage Chunky—their stitch definition really lets those cables pop!
