Advanced Knitting Techniques

May 18 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Did you ever want to add a new technique to your knitting repertoire without committing to an entire project? If so, Jan’s Advanced Knitting Technique classes are for you!

Each technique will be taught in a 2-3 hour session. Create a swatch or small household accessory for practice. Each technique is a separate class, so you can pick and choose which techniques pique your interest.

Please note: This class uses challenging techniques. Intermediate skills and confidence are required for success in this class. We want you to enjoy this class, so if you have questions, please contact us! Jan is a continental knitter, but will work with you to transfer the techniques to your own knitting style.

May’s Technique: TWICE KNITTING

Saturday, May 18th, 11-1pm

Twice Knitting is a technique invented by designer Hiroka Shinokawa. In Twice Knitting, each stitch is knit or purled together with both the stitch that proceeds it and the stitch that follows. This creates a sturdy, warm, squishy fabric which lays flat.

From Jan, “When I first read about this technique, I was intrigued. After two days of introduction and practice, I am addicted. Though challenging at first, Twice Knitting quickly becomes rhythmic and intuitive. The possibilities for Twice Knitting are endless: coasters, placemats, dish cloths, wash cloths, mittens or scarves.”

Materials:

Sturdy yarn that can withstand multiple “frogs”

Corresponding knitting needles
